Electrical Engineering Fundamentals
Ohm's Law
Ohm's law is the fundamental relationship in electrical engineering that relates voltage, current, and resistance:
- V = I × R - Voltage equals current times resistance
- I = V ÷ R - Current equals voltage divided by resistance
- R = V ÷ I - Resistance equals voltage divided by current
Power Calculations
Electrical power can be calculated using several formulas:
- P = V × I - Power equals voltage times current
- P = I² × R - Power equals current squared times resistance
- P = V² ÷ R - Power equals voltage squared divided by resistance
Circuit Analysis
Understanding how resistors combine in different configurations:
- Series: Total resistance = R₁ + R₂ + R₃ + ...
- Parallel: 1/Total resistance = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + 1/R₃ + ...
- Current divides in parallel circuits
